Dizengoff Center isn’t just Israel's first shopping mall—a fact that's pretty amazing on its own. Over the years, the Center evolved into something far greater. Today, Dizengoff Center is a dynamic hub of impact and influence, connecting the community with the environment, society, and the economy.
The Center first opened in December 1977. Six decades later, we're proud to be home to over 320 businesses: Israeli and international, big and small, chains and independents. All this, alongside the Center's countless stalls, classes, food fairs, pop-up shops, conferences, and events, attracts nearly one million monthly visitors.
The Center’s Impact Program:
We proudly present our Impact Program here.
In some areas, we're smashing our goals; in others, we’re making solid progress. And sure, we've also had our share of failures along the way, but that only shows how incredibly committed we are 😊. Currently, the Center showcases and endorses dozens of impact points on society and the environment (and counting…). Over the course of the year, we invite social activists, organizations, NGOs, and corporate businesses to join us at the Center - whether for talks, classes, and Impact Workshops or simply to showcase at fairs, exhibitions, conferences, and pop-ups. And hey, to all our awesome visitors and mall-goers, feel free to pitch new ideas and activities, and join us in our quest for impact.
No Biggie. Everyone Gets Lost in the Center!
This joke has been around for ages—just like the Center itself. But honestly? We take it as a compliment (we really do!). After all, the complex was designed to be uniquely distinctive. A contemporary urban structure that flows seamlessly with Dizengoff and King George streets, effortlessly matching the existing urban fabric. Comprising two buildings and four commercial floors, the Center is considered the heart of its neighborhood. Unlike other malls, Dizengoff Center truly harmonizes with the Tel Aviv vibe, never taking over. After all, everyone swings by the Center in the summer— even if it's only for a short escape in the air conditioning! 😊
A Community Shopping Center
The Center's charm lies in its perfect blend: on the one hand, a large regional shopping center with a traditional mall feel featuring major brands and an international vibe. On the other hand, a neighborhood mall at the heart of Tel Aviv – for shopping, errands, and basic needs. But that's not all. The Center also serves local residents and the surrounding area as a home to a variety of unique small businesses and communities from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, geeks, anime, manga, books, music, comics, arts, and social and environmental activism. It also offers classes, workshops, courses, gallery spaces, and fun-filled activities for families and kids.
Thanks to the Center's unique character, we established a marketing policy that encourages and promotes a wide and diverse range of community-based activities: from fashion fairs and tech launches to anime, fantasy, sex and body art, pop culture and comics, and nightlife and hobbies- with events happening almost daily. All this, coupled with recurring fairs, exhibitions, launches, fundraisers, swap meets, and secondhand markets, makes the Center a vibrant, one-of-a-kind community hub.
From Shopping Center to Impact Center
As a third-generation family business, the Center grew as a commercial enterprise aimed at financial gain, boosting income, cutting costs, and enhancing profitability for investors.
Over the years (we’ve been for ages…), we’ve faced situations where this formula simply doesn’t hold up.
We believe that alongside the business aspect, we and other leading organizations have a responsibility to do everything in our power to impact the environment and society: first and foremost, to minimize harm, and secondly, to contribute as much as possible to their betterment.
About a decade ago, we established the Sustainability Department of Dizengoff Center as a management approach, driven by the belief that this worldview would evolve and help solve some of the issues we encountered in the past.
From Words to Action: Dizengof Center’s Impact Vision
We have a bold vision! To be the world's most sustainable shopping mall by 2028, while generating profit and promoting businesses and initiatives.
To achieve our vision, we set ambitious goals in the areas of electricity, carbon emissions, water, drainage, sewage, urban nature, urban agriculture, food, human resources, businesses, waste management, visitor center, and The School of Sustainability.
We developed a new urban building plan to add space above and below the Center and continue conducting social activities in collaboration with NGOs, PBCs, authorities, and educational institutions.
Each year, we select the projects, initiatives, or operational changes to address, aiming to find the most efficient and profitable projects with the highest impact potential to benefit the community and society in which we live.
